Loretta Ann Keith Duncan Jackson peacefully passed away in her home on the morning of Thursday 2/6/2025. Her final hours were spent with family and loved ones surrounding her, listening to her son play guitar, and of course her favorite Hallmark Christmas movies playing softly in the background.Loretta was born in Chattanooga Tennessee on June 14th1936 to the late Walter James and Ethel Mae Keith. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, her brothers Grady and Jimmy Keith, her husband of 60 years John E. Duncan Sr, her husband of six years- Walker Jackson (Jack), her sons- Keith & Boyce Duncan, her grandsons James Fender, Jessie Fender, Christopher Fender, Jacob Duncan, and granddaughter Angela Bailey.
Those left to cherish her memory are her eldest son, John Edward Duncan Jr. - “Eddy” (wife Cathy) Daughter, Melody Pender (husband Marvin). She also leaves a huge legacy behind including 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. Finally, she leaves behind her best friend of 40+ years- Joann Lowery and a ton of her life group friends from FBCIT.
For those of you who knew Loretta, you know she was a firecracker. She was sweet, sassy, and definitely SPARKLY. She was an outstanding bowler, fast pitched softball player, dedicated a huge portion of her life to singing in the Sweet Adelines, and in several amazing barbershop quartets. She was a great fisher and could out fish most people at any given moment. She loved to play the piano, cello, and even race motorcycles and do burnouts in her son’s mustang! She never met a stranger. Her smile lit up any room she entered. She had such a warm and inviting spirit about her that made everyone feel calm, loved and appreciated. She loved her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply, and always stood by them no matter what. Most importantly- she loved the Lord. She made sure she sharedwhat Jesus had done in and through her life to everyone she could. She taught us early on that the only way to get into heaven was by confessing your sins to Jesus and then asking Him to come into your heart… and because of that, we know that while we are sad for her leaving us on earth- this is NOT the last time we will see her. She is healed from earthly sickness and she’s walking the streets of gold with so many loved ones.
The visitation will be on Thursday 2/20/25 beginning at 5pm and a Memorial Service will follow at 6pm at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail- 732 Indian Trail Fairview Road Indian Trail NC 28079. We welcome beautiful flowers, and encourage you to wear pink, purple, or anything sparkly in honor of mom. This is a celebration – and she wouldn’t want anything less.
